A close friend of mine has yearly get togethers up north. It usually happens late August and signals the end of summer. Due to his wedding in September in France (You should know about it by now), it was moved to earlier.
The previous year I had just bought my Canon T1i and had a blast fooling around with night shots. I figured out I would try to push the camera’s high ISO to the max. I haven’t been extremely impressed with it’s high ISO ability, but I don’t shoot above 400 most of the time anyway. I’ll just have to wait until my 5D before I can start doing that ;).
Around sunset, the lake started to look pretty promising and my buddy Tracii and I headed down to the beach. The sunset was great, and I have good composition with the pier and wicker chair. I took a few really nice shots including the image above. We were lucky enough to be on a pretty quiet lake, which added to the calm of the image. I am really happy with the foreground of the water where minimal reflection was achieved with my polarizer.
Here is another image taken just before the colors started to come out in the sky.
