The Route

While talking it over, the planned drive was way to long with little time to really stop, take pictures and enjoy the scenery. So I have been convinced to change the route. I still get to Grenoble and drive to take the famous shot, I just don’t drive as far as Nice. I am a little upset as I really loved Nice, but this should be just as rewarding.

The Old Route

Day 1:

Land in Paris & Drive to Saintes (4 hrs)

Day 2:

Attend a Wedding

Day 3:

Stay in Saintes
Recover, take some local shots, just enjoy the moment.

Day 4:

Saintes to Nice (8.5 hrs – Ouch!)

Day 5:

Route 1 – Nice to Jausiers
This would take me up route D64 into the mountains. You can see some of the views I will have access to by clicking on the D64 link on the right. Normally it is about a 2hr20min drive. I plan on leaving before sunrise to get to the interesting points at sunrise. I have yet to decide if I should take another route back, or grab lunch somewhere and then try do drive back for sunset. I will have to figure out where the sun will set and rise based on areas I want to shoot. Once I do that, it might change my entire plan. {View of Drive}

Between Sunrise and Sunset, would be nice to visit Peillon – View Map

Day 6:

Route 2 – Nice to Saint-Pons
Another cool drive Take D17 that holds small towns hanging off of cliffs, followed by the castle city we passed, then completed with D908 and D900 that should have some great vistas. {View of Drive}

Day 7:

Nice to Grenoble (6-8 hrs)
This is pretty close to the original drive to Grenoble. I still have to find the map that we used and will compare. The most important part is stopping in to take pictures at Les Blancs {View of Drive} {View of Drive}

Day 8:

Grenoble to Paris (7.5 hrs)
With a planned stop at Mont Blanc to take some crazy pictures

Day 9:

Fly Home
